Summer Day

It's the end of the month, so it must be Schnibble Time!   I really like this month's pattern selection...Summer Day!  I decided to use Modern Vintage charms for my quilt.  Think I have a new favorite color combination!  Love the reds and turquoise.  My quilt is all done and waiting for a Summer Day picnic...Had to take a picture of it with my mock orange tree that is in full bloom.  Wish you could smell it too!

Can't wait to see the other quilts this month.

Rehab!

I wish the weekend had an extra day 'cause my condition needs another day of rehab!   I almost finished my applique block....5 more little circles to go.  I completed a 6 inch and 12 inch block.   These three blocks are for my Gingerbread Joy BOM.  That's all I completed this weekend for BOM projects, but I'm very happy they are done...well almost!   I really need to spend some clean up time in my sewing room before the next session.

FNSI Results

Did not have a chance to do as much sewing as I had planned.  But I did manage to do a little bit.  One pillow case completed.  I had to wash the fabric for another so it will be made tomorrow...I used the "hot dog" method for construction from the pattern and it went together very quickly.  I hope Handy Manny brings a smile to a little one.

I also made a 6 inch block for my Gingerbread Joy quilt and cut the pieces for two more....

Today, we went to Carter's T-ball game at the Y.  This is his first year playing.  I love to watch these games.  Brings back memories of his dad's first games.

Ready at third base

Heading for home

I'm sure this is the first of many games for him.

Applique Thursday and FNSI

This week I have been working on another block in my Gingerbread Joy quilt. I thought I might have it completed before Applique Thursday, but still have a few more pieces to go.  It is fun to link up with A Quilting Reader's Garden to see what others are working on or have completed.  So many great patterns and projects out there.  Check it out!

If you have never joined in on a Friday night sew-in, you should start tomorrow!  They are partnering with Conkerr cancer and Arrow sewing cabinets to make pillowcases for critically ill children.  Isn't this a great idea...I'll definitely make a few pillowcases...With a weather forecast of a rainy weekend, hopefully I will have a long sew-in.  Check out Heidi's blog for all the details.  Oh....some neat prizes too!

Rehab Time

Another Monday session for BOM Rehab.  This weekend I finished my "girl" block for Gingerbread Joy.  She is sweet enough to eat!

I pulled out another older BOM from the Fat Quarter Shop....Holly Lane designed by Arlene Stamper and Melissa Harris.   I love the fabrics in this one.  This is the second block.  Don't you love the details!  Love the sewing machine machine in the window.  A perfect Christmas house!  I sure could live on Holly Lane.  How about you?

Check Sinta's blog later today to see other BOM's in progress.

Sewing Weekend

For the first time in a LONG time I spent a majority of my weekend sewing.  Just what I needed too!  Terry played in a volleyball tournament Saturday so I retreated to my sewing room.   Of course there was a lot of laundry staring at me, but I managed to do both.   Before I show you what I worked on, I have to share this.  I had a wonderful surprise last weekend from the mailman.  Actually he just delivered it!  I was one of the winners from the Schnibbles parade last month.  I knew I won a layer cake from Carrie, but I got the whole bakery!   Plus a sweet note from Carrie and Rosie....

The Easter Bunny couldn't compete with these goodies

Can't wait to use those Blueberry Crumb layer cakes.  Will definitely use one of Carrie's great patterns for these.  In all those charms are two from the Kansas Troubles new holiday line....Holiday Medley...Love these....Can't ever go wrong with Christmas fabric!!!

A great online group, The New Quilting Club, made a shout out for some healing heart blocks.  We make quilts for people who are going through a tough time.  I made three of these blocks Saturday...

I also finished my April Schnibbles top,  Summer Day.  Maybe I'll have it quilted for the parade!

I have been working for a while off and on stitching blocks for Holiday Redwork.   The blocks are all done and I started putting the quilt together.  Going to love this one, too!  Here's a completed section.

The pattern is from The Stitch Connection by Lynda Howell.  I ordered it a few years ago from Erica's.  They also have the designs for machine embroidery if you aren't a hand stitcher.  You can see the finished quilt here.   I enjoyed sewing on this quilt.  Cutting each block and strips and sewing as I go.  Trying to pick the right fabrics for each strip...I have never been one who cuts an entire quilt out before sewing.  I prefer to cut a while and sew a bit.  How about you?  Do you cut as you go or cut an entire quilt before sewing?   I'll show a few more blocks tomorrow for the BOM Rehab!

BOM Rehab

I decided I needed some therapy and BOM Rehab is just what the doctor ordered.  I am joining Sinta at Pink Pincushion and working on finishing some BOMs.  This weekend I finished my Night Before Christmas block that I have been showing for the last few weeks.  This is a BOM from Quakertown quilts designed by Sue Garman.  I also worked on another BOM from a LQS by Sue called Gingerbread Joy.  Guess you all see a theme with a lot of my quilts.   I really do make other quilts that are not Christmas!

Gingerbread Joy

This is not an alien Gingerbread Girl. Just one in progress!

I promise no more pics of this block until you see in in a finished quilt!

Go check out Pink Pincushion for this week's rehab session.
